This step by step woodworking project is about wall mounted bike rack plans. If you want to organize your bikes in a professional manner and to save space in your home, I recommend you to consider building this wooden rack. This bike rack can be used in the backyard, as well. You can adjust the size of the project to suit your needs. See my other DIY projects HERE.
We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans in the Shop.

How to build a wooden bike rack
Build the base components from 2×4 lumber. Mark the cut lines on the beams and get the job done with a circular saw.
Assemble the vertical supports by attaching the 2×4 beams. Drill pilot holes through the base slats and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the vertical posts. Check if the corners are square before inserting the screws.
Attach the 2×4 bottom plate to the base components. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws. Add glue to enhance the rigidity of the frame.
Add more 2×4 components to enhance the rigidity of the frame. Cut the components at the right dimensions and secure them into place with 2 1/2″ screws. Drill pilot holes to prevent the wood from splitting.
Build the braces for the bike rack from 2×4 lumber. Cut both ends of the braces at 45 degrees.
Fit the braces to the bike rack. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock the components into place.
Build the panel for the wall mounted bike rack from 2×4 lumber. Secure the slats into place with 2 1/2″ screws, after drilling pilot holes.
Add bike hooks to the panel, so you can hang the bikes.
Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats of stain or paint to enhance the look of the project.
This wood bike rack is sturdy enough to support a few bikes. You can adjust the size of the rack so you can fit more bikes into place. If you like my project, don’t forget to SHARE it on Facebook and Pinterest.
