This step by step woodworking project is about wishing well made from 2x4s plans. I have designed this super simple wishing well that you can make just from 2x4s and screws. This wishing well has a sturdy structure and it is super easy to build. If you have a saw and a drill, you can build this project in one weekend. See my other DIY projects HERE.

We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

How to build a wishing well from 2x4s

Building the frames

Building the frames

The first step of the project is to build frames. Cut the boards at the dimensions shown in the plans. Drill pilot holes through the 36″ long boards and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the perpendicular components. Align the edges flush and make sure the corners are square.

Staking the frames

Last but not least, you need to take care of the finishing touches. Smooth the edges with sandpaper and make sure the joints are sturdy. Fill the holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper and apply a few coats of stain/paint.
