This step by step diy woodworking project is about 8×10 shed door plans. This is PART 3 of the small storage shed project, where I show you how to build the door for the front of the shelter. Anyone can build the door for the shed as it is all about straight forward techniques. You can also add decorative trims to the four sides of the shed, so you enhance the look of the project.
Fit the door inside the opening and lock it to the 1×4 jambs with metal hinges. After you check if the door opens properly, you should install the hinges, as well as a strong latch. Work with attention and with great attention, if you want to get the job done as a professional and to prevent costly mistakes. Last but not least, apply a few coats of exterior paint to enhance the look of the shed and to protect the components from decay. See HERE how to build double shed doors. How to build a small shed door
The first step of the project is to attach the 2×4 trims around the door opening. Align the edges with attention and secure them into place with 2 1/2″ screws.
The next step of the project is to assemble the door for the 8×10 shed. Cut the trims at the right dimensions and then assemble the frame with 2 1/2″ screws. Lay the T1-11 siding panel to the frame, making sure the edges are flush. Add glue to the joints and insert 2″ brad nails to secure everything tightly.
Fit the door to the opening of the shed. Align the edges with attention and then secure the door into place with hinges. Install a latch so you can lock the door properly into place. Check if the door opens and closes easily and make the necessary changes.
Fit the windows to the front of the shed. Fit the 1×4 trims around the windows. Use 2″ brad nails to secure the trims into place tightly.
This shed with a gable roof is compact but it will still provide enough storage space for all your tools. Moreover, you can store your bikes and your skis.
Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. Use a nail set to push the head of the nails under the surface of the trims. Fill the holes with wood filler and let it to dry out for several hours. Afterwards, smooth the wooden surface with fine-grit sandpaper and vacuum the residues. Take a look over PART 1 and PART 2 of the shed so you learn how to build build the frame and the roof for the shed.
