This step by step woodworking project is about free 4×8 firewood shed plans. If you want to build a firewood with a beautiful design, you should check out these plans. I have created this 4×8 storage shed with a large front opening and with a saltbox shed, so you can get the job done in a professional manner. My plans come with step by step instructions and you can easily adjust all the dimensions to suit your needs. See my other DIY projects HERE.
We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans in the Shop.

Building a storage wood shed
The first step of the project is to build the frame for the shed. Cut the joists at the right dimensions, after taking accurate dimensions. Drill pilot holes through the rim joists and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the perpendicular components. Check if the edges are aligned and make sure the corners are square.
Attach 4×4 skids to the floor shed. Align the skids to the floor and drill pilot holes through the joists before inserting the screws. The skids will lift the floor of the firewood storage shed from the ground and thus protect it from moisture.
Fit 3/4″ plywood to the floor of the shed. Alternatively, you can use 2×6 slats and space them so you let the air go through them. In this manner the firewood will dry out quicker.  Align the edges flush, drill pilot holes and insert screws to secure the floor into place.
Build the front wall for the storage wood shed from 2×4 lumber. Cut the components at the right dimensions and then lock them together with 3 1/2″ screws. As you can notice in the plans, you need to install a double header above the opening. Drill pocket holes at both ends and then insert 2 1/2″ screws into the studs, so you lock them into place tightly.
Build the back wall for the diy 4×8 wood shed using 2×4 lumber. Cut the components at the proper dimensions and then drill pilot holes through the plates. Insert 3 1/2″ screws into the studs and place them every 16″ on center.
Build the side walls from 2×4 lumber. Cut the components at the dimensions shown in the diagram. Drill pilot holes through the plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the studs. Place the studs as in the plans, making sure the corners are square.
Fit the wall frames to the floor of the shed. Align the edges flush, drill pilot holes through the bottom plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws so you can lock them into place. Use a spirit level to plumb the wall frames. In addition, you need to lock the adjacent walls together with screws.
