Building a plant stand
Â
Build the legs for the plant stand out of 2×4 lumber. Make sure you take accurate measurements and you use a circular saw to get a professional result.
Â
Â
The next step of the woodworking project is to build the sides of the outdoor plant stand. In order to get the job done in a professional manner, we recommend you to attach the supports to the legs. Drill pilot holes through the supports and secure them to the legs with 1
Â
Â
Lock the sides of the outdoor plant stand together, by using several 2×4 slats. Drill pilot holes through the back supports and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the side supports. Make sure the sides are plumb and the supports are horizontal.
Â
Â
In order to reinforce the frame of the plant stand, we recommend you to install a diagonal brace to the back of the structure. Cut both ends of the brace at 35 degrees, by using a nice circular saw. Secure the brace to the back supports with galvanized screws.
Â
Â
One of the last steps of the project is to attach the slats to the structure, as seen in the image. Drill pilot holes through the slats and secure them to the supports with 2 1/2″ screws. Leave 1/4″ between the slats and align them at both ends.
Â
Â
Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood filler and let it to dry out for several hours. Afterwards, smooth the wooden surface with fine-grit sandpaper and vacuum the residues.
