This step by step woodworking project is about a-frame bench plans. I have designed this unique bench so you can enhance the look of your property. Moreover, even if the design is unique, this project can be done by any person with basic woodworking techniques. My plans come with step by step instructions and you can easily adjust all the dimensions to suit your needs. See my other DIY projects HERE.
We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans in the Shop.

Building an a frame bench seat
The first step of the project is to build the legs for the A-frame bench. As you can see in the diagram, you need to mark the cut lines on the 2×8  beams and get the job done with a saw. It is essential to take accurate measurements for a professional result. Smooth the cut edges with sandpaper.
Drill pocket holes along the joint, on one side, and then secure the components together with 2 1/2″ screws.
The next step of the project is to build the frame for the seat. Cut all components at the right dimensions and then drill pocket holes at both ends of the 10″ long supports. Add waterproof glue to the joints and then insert the 2 1/2 screws.
Lay the 2×8 beams for the seat on a level surface, leaving no gaps between them. Drill pilot holes through the frame and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the seat slats. Afterwards, turn the seat upside-down and insert 2 1/2″ screws through the seat slats into the frame.
The next step is to attach the seat frame to the A-frame legs. Align everything with attention and clamp the legs to the frame with attention. Drill pilot hole through the frame and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the legs. Make sure the corners are square.
Fill the holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats of paint or stain to enhance the look of the bench.
