How to build a dog feeding station
Â
The first step of the garden project is to build the top of the dog feeding station. As you can easily notice in the plans, we recommend you to cut build the top out of 3/4″ plywood, making sure you take a look over the diagram. Drill a starting holes and make the round holes using a jigsaw. Smooth the edges with sandpaper and remove the residues using a vacuum cleaner.
Â
Â
Next, build the frame of the feeding station out of 1×4 lumber using the information described in the diagram. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the short components and secure them to the perpendicular components by using 1 1/4″ screws. Make sure the corners are right-angled and add glue to the joints in order to create a rigid structure.
Â
Â
Continue the woodworking project by attaching the 2×2 legs to the frame of the dog station. Drill pilot holes through the legs and secure them to the frame by using 2″ screws.
Â
Â
Drill pocket holes through the top edges of the frame and center it to the top components. Leave no gaps between the components and lock them together tightly by inserting 1 1/4″ screws. Add glue to the joints and remove the excess by using a damp cloth.
Â
Â
Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood filler and let it to dry out for several hours. Afterwards, smooth the wooden surface with fine-grit sandpaper and vacuum the residues.
