This step by step woodworking project is about bar table plans. If you liked my bar stools, you really need to step up the game and build a matching bar table. This unique wood bar table features storage shelves and a square top. The best part of the project is that you can get the job done quickly. You can build this picnic table in one weekend. See my other DIY projects HERE.
We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

Building a square bar table
The first step of the project is to build the tabletop frame. Use 2×2 lumber and cut the components as shown in the diagram. Make 45 degree decorative cuts to both ends of the long components. Align the edges and make sure the corners are square. Drill pilot holes through the 25″ long components and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the perpendicular components.
Fit the 2×2 legs to the tabletop frame. Plumb the legs with a spirit level and make sure the corners are square. Drill pilot holes through the legs and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the frame.
Build the frame for the shelves from 2×2 lumber. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock the frame together tightly.
Attach 1×4 slats to the frame. Align the edges and fit a piece of 1/8″ plywood between the slats to create even gaps. Drill pilot holes and insert 1 5/8″ screws to lock the slats into place tightly.
Fit the shelves to the frame of the bar table. Place the shelves equally spaced or adjust the distance between them to suit your needs. Drill pilot holes through the frame and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the legs of the table.
Build the tabletop from 1×4 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the green slats and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the breadboards. Lay the slats on a level surface and align everything with attention, so you get a professional result.
Fit the tabletop upside down and then center the frame of the bar table with attention. Drill pilot holes through the frame of the table and insert 2″ screws into the tabletop.
This bar table has an unique design and it is very easy to build. If you want to build something cool this weekend with basic tools and materials, this is a serious candidate. If you like my project, don’t forget to SHARE it on Facebook and Pinterest.
