This step by step woodworking project is about beach chair plans. If you like spending time in the bright sun or under a nice umbrella, you can make it more comfortable with this beach chair. If you have basic tools and materials, you can build this project in just one day. You can adjust the size of the bench to suit your needs. See my other DIY projects HERE.
We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans in the Shop.

How to build a single chaise lounge plans
The first step of the project is to build the rails for the beach chair. Mark the cut lines on the 2×6 beams and the get the job done with a saw. Use a chisel to remove the excess material and then smooth the surface with sandpaper.
The next step of the project is to assemble the frame of the chaise lounge. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the 1×6 slats and then secure them into place with 1 1/4″ pocket screws. Make sure the corners are square and insert the screws. Add waterproof glue to the joints for a neat result.
Use 2×4 lumber for the legs. Drill pilot holes through the legs and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the frame. Make sure the corners are square and leave no gaps between the components for a neat result.
Attach 1×4 slats to the frame of the chair, drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ screws to lock them into place tightly.
Use 1×4 slats for the backrest. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the 17″ long slats and insert 1 1/4″ pocket screws into the sides. Place the slats equally spaced and make sure the edges are flush. Add waterproof glue to the joints for a neat result.
Reinforce the backrest with a 2×2 frame. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to assemble the frame. Attach the frame to the backrest with 2″ screws.
Fit the backrest into place and lock it to the seat with hinges.
You can adjust the lean angle of the backrest by placing 2x4s or 2x6s to the slots.
Using a 2×4 in the first slot will create a 30 degree lean.
By placing a 2×4 to the second slot you can create a 15 degree lean.
Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats of paint or stain to enhance the look of the chaise lounge and to protect the components from the elements. If you like my project, don’t forget to SHARE it on Facebook and Pinterest.
