Adding the doors to the table will add an exquisite look to your project, but it requires complex skills.
When building a wooden stand for your tv you should know there are many designs you could choose from. Therefore, take a look over several projects and adjust the design of the table before starting the actual construction. It is essential to select the lumber with attention when building the tv stand, especially if you want to get a professional result. Therefore, choose perfectly straight boards and look for any flaws, such as knots or cracks. In addition, buy high quality lumber (such as pine), if yo want to get a nice finish and to build a tv stand that will last for many years in a row. How to build a tv stand
The first step of the project is to build the frame of the tv stand. As you can see in the image, we recommend you to build the components from 1×20 lumber and to lock them together with pocket screws. Drill the pocket holes at both ends of the side components and insert 1 1/4″ screws. Alternatively, drill regular pilot holes through the horizontal components and insert the screws into the sides.
The next step of the project is to install the shelves inside the frame. In order to get the job done in a professional manner, we recommend you to use 1×18 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the board and lock it to the side walls with 1 1/4″ galvanized screws. Adjust the height at which you place the shelf to suit your needs. Align the shelf to the back edges of the frame.
Continue the woodworking project by attaching the back of the tv stand. Therefore, use 1/4″ plywood to build the back of the wall and attach it to the frame with 5/8″ finishing nails. Check if the corners are square and add glue to the joints. Align the edges with great care before inserting the brad nails.
In order to enhance the look of the tv stand, we recommend you to build four legs from 2×2 or 3×3 lumber and to attach them to the frame, using the information from the plans. Drill pocket holes through the legs and secure them to the bottom of the TV stand using 1 1/4″ screws.
One of the last steps is to build the doors for the tv stand. Build the frames from 1×2 lumber and lock them together with pocket screws. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the vertical components and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the perpendicular components.
Make sure the corners are right-angled before installing the glass into place. Use clips to secure the glass to the frames.
Attach the doors into place and lock them to the frame with metal hinges. Install door knobs that match the style of your furniture.

Last but not least, you need to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, fill the holes with wood putty and let it dry out for several hours. Smooth the surface with medium-grit sandpaper and clean the surface with a dry cloth.
