This step by step project is about 3 legged sawhorse plans. I have designed this sawhorse with three legs, so you can use it on the job site or in the shop. You should also check my other sawhorse designs, as the ideal solution would be to combine a few of these designs. This particular sawhorse is very sturdy and it will ease your work in the shop.
There are many designs and plans you could choose from, so you should take a look on more projects before starting the actual project. Nevertheless, if you are looking for a simple but sturdy design, this project might be the solution to your needs. Moreover, you could build all the components from 2×4 lumber, as to save both time and money. Make sure you check all the dimensions before making the cuts, otherwise the components might not fit together easily. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

Building a three legged sawhorse
The first step of the project is to build the I beam for the sawhorse. Cut the components from 2×4 lumber. Center the top and bottom components to the middle 2×4 support. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the middle support.
Attach the 2×4 legs to the beams to one end. Drill four pilot holes through the legs and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the beam.
Drill pilot holes through the vertical leg and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the beam. Make sure the corners are square and align the edges flush.
This is an extremely sturdy sawhorse that any amateur woodworker needs in his shop. The main drawback of this design is that you can’t stack them properly, so if you build many of these, they will take a lot of space in your shop.
Last but not least, you have to take care of the finishing touches. Therefore, you have to make sure all the screws are inserted properly and the whole structure is rigid.
