This step by step woodworking project is about window pergola plans. This project is about how to build a super simple window pergola that will add unique appeal to your house. This would also work if you want to create some shade to a window and grow some climbing plans around it. You can adjust the size of my plans to suit your needs. See my other DIY projects HERE.
We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

How to build a window pergola
Use 2×6 lumber for the supports. Use a circular saw and a jigsaw to make the cuts to the supports, as shown in the diagram. Smooth the surface with sandpaper.
Center the horizontal support to the back support. Drill pilot holes and insert 3 1/2″ screws to lock them together tightly. Make sure the corner is square.
Use 2×4 lumber for the diagonal braces. Make 45 degree cuts at both ends of the braces. Use a jigsaw to make the curved cut to the brace.
Drill pocket holes at both ends of the braces and then lock it to the support with 2 1/2″ screws.
Fit the supports on both sides of the window. You can adjust the distance between the supports to suit your needs. Drill pilot holes through the back supports and insert 3 1/2″ screws to lock them to the house framing.
Use 2×6 lumber for the rafters. Make decorative cuts to both ends of the rafters.
Fit the rafters to the top of the supports and center them into place so you have equal overhangs on both sides. Drill pilot holes and insert 3 1/2″ screws to lock them to the supports.
Use 2×2 lumber for the top slats. Make 45 degree cuts to the slats, as shown in the diagram.
Fit the slats to the top of the window pergola, drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them into place tightly.
Last but not least, you need to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the surface with sandpaper. Apply a few coats of stain / paint over the components to enhance the look of the window pergola and to protect the components from the elements.
