6×8 Lean to Shed – DIY Project

How-to-Build-a-6x8-shed

6x8-Shed---Lean-to

Modified 6’x12’ bike shed plans to build 6’x8’ lean to shed. Materials were similar to the ones used in your plan but needed a few less 2x4s (studs were 16” on center), 2 sheets of flooring, 5 sheets of LP smart siding, 2 bundles of 3-tab shingles, 4 lengths of 10’ drip edge, 1 10’ x6’ of aluminum flashing. I also used metal lath and aluminum screen to cover openings in eaves- this allowed air flow so I don’t think I’ll need vents. Also the only door was constructed from an old barn sliding door that I recycled.

The cost of this process was around $1500 but I was given a barn door and also was able to use some leftover wood from other projects as well as some hardware. I built this over 5 weeks- some days 8-12 hours, some days I was rained out. I never had done an outbuilding so I took it slow and double checked each measurement. Thank you for your plans, they were mostly easy to follow and I’m happy with the results.
