Building a snack table
Â
The first step of the woodworking project is to build the frame of the snack table. Cut the legs out of 2×2 lumber and the aprons out of 1×3 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the aprons and secure it to the legs with 1 1/4″ screws. Add waterproof glue to the joints and remove the excess with a damp cloth. Make sure the corners are right-angled before inserting the screws.
Â
Â
Build the frame of the tabletop out of 1×3 lumber, making sure you take accurate measurements. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the yellow slats and secure them to the perpendicular components. Secure the components together by inserting 1 1/4″ screws and add glue to the joints in order to create a durable bond.
Â
Â
Continue the project by fitting the rest of the 1×2 components. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the slats and secure them to the frame with 1 1/4″ screws. Leave 1/4″ between the slats in order to get a professional result.
Â
Â
Center the frame of the table to the tabletop. Drill pocket holes through the aprons and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the tabletop, making sure you leave no gaps between the components.
Â
Â
Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood filler and let it to dry out for several hours. Afterwards, smooth the wooden surface with fine-grit sandpaper and vacuum the residues.
