Building a wooden box
Â
The first step of the woodworking project is to build the faces of the wooden box. In order to get the job done in a professional manner, we recommend you to mark the cut lines after taking accurate measurements. Drill a starting hole and cut out the handle using a jigsaw.
Â
Â
Continue the project by attaching the side components to the faces. Make sure the corners are right-angled and the edges are flush before locking the components together with finishing nails and waterproof glue.
Â
Â
Attach the 1/4″ plywood to the bottom of the wooden box, as shown in plans. Make sure the corners are square and the edges are perfectly aligned.
Â
Â
One of the last steps of the project is to attach the 1×3 trims to the bottom of the wooden box. Attach the trims to the bottom faces and secure them into place with finishing nails and waterproof glue. Align the components with great care before fitting the trims into place.
Â
Â
Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood filler and let it to dry out for several hours. Afterwards, smooth the wooden surface with fine-grit sandpaper and vacuum the residues.
