Align the components at both ends and pre-drill holes before inserting the galvanized screws. B – 8 pieces of 1×16 lumber – 33 1/2” long SHELVES
C – 1 piece of 1/4″ plywood – 91 3/4″ x 35″ long BACK
D – 2 pieces of 1×4 lumber – 91 3/4” long, 2 pieces – 28 1/4″ long TRIMS
E – 7 pieces of 1×2 lumber – 28 1/4″ long TRIMS

How to build a toddler bed

Building the frame of the shoe rack

The first step of the woodworking project is to build the frame of the shoe rack. As you can see above, you need to lock the 1×16 components together, by using pocket screws. Add waterproof glue to the joints, if you want to enhance the rigidity of the structure.

Attaching the bottom of the rack

The next step is to attach the back of the shoe rack. Cut a piece of 1/4″ plywood at the right size with a circular saw and lock it into place with finishing nails. Check if the corners of the rack are right-angled before attaching the back.

Fitting the shelves

Next, you need to fit the shelves. As you can see in the image, you have to tilt the shelves at about 7 degrees. Use pocket screws or drill pilot holes trough the side walls and insert the screws into the shelves.

Attaching the trims

If you really want to enhance the look of the shoe rack, we recommend you to attach 1×4 and 1×2 trims to the front face of the frame. As you can see in the image, you need to align the components with great attention and to lock them into place with finishing nails and glue. Make sure the trims are flush with the side components.

Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood filler and let it to dry out for several hours. Afterwards, smooth the wooden surface with fine-grit sandpaper and vacuum the residues.
