Building the supports

Building the supports

The first step of the project is to build the supports for the window box. As you can easily notice in the plans, we recommend you to build the supports out of 1×2 lumber. Drill pilot holes through the vertical component and insert 2 1/2″ galvanized screws into the perpendicular supports. Make sure the corners are right-angled.

The next step of the garden project is to build the trims for the supports. Therefore, we recommend you to mark the cut lines on the 1×6 supports and to make the cuts with a jigsaw. It is essential to take accurate measurements, otherwise the end result won’t suit your needs.

Fitting the trims

Fit the trims to the supports by using finishing nails and waterproof glue. Leave no gaps between the components and work with great care. Smooth the cut edges with sandpaper and remove the residues before applying the paint.
