Building corner shelves
Â
Building the shelves is a straight forward process, as you need to mark the cut lines on a piece of 3/4″ plywood. Take accurate measurements and get the job done with a jigsaw. Smooth the cut edges with sandpaper and remove the residues with a cleaner.
Â
Â
Building the frame of the corner shelves is the next step of the project. Cut the 3/4″ plywood at the right dimensions and secure them to the bottom and top shelves. Drill pocket holes through the components and insert 1 1/4″ nails into the shelves.
Â
Â
Attach the opposite side to the corners shelves. Make sure there are no gaps the components and enhance the bond of the joints by adding waterproof glue. Check if the corners are right-angled before inserting the finishing nails.
Â
Â
Drill pocket holes at both ends of the shelves and secure them to the sides. It is essential to place the shelves equally-spaced, otherwise the shelf unit won’t have a nice and symmetrical appearance.
Â
Â
Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood filler and let it to dry out for several hours. Afterwards, smooth the wooden surface with fine-grit sandpaper and vacuum the residues.
