DIY End Table Plans

This step by step diy woodworking project is about diy end table plans. A – 4 pieces of 2×2 lumber – 24″ long FRAME
B – 2 pieces of 2×2 lumber – 23″ long LEGS
C – 3 pieces of 2×2 lumber – 17″ long FRAME
D – 12 pieces of 1×2 lumber – 17″ long TABLETOP

1 piece of 2×2 lumber – 8 ft
1 piece of 2×2 lumber – 10 ft
2 pieces of 1×2 lumber – 10 ft
2 1/2″ screws
1 1/4″ screws
glue, stain

Building an end table

Building the sides of the end table

The first step of the woodworking project is about building the sides of the end table. As you can easily notice in the plans, we recommend you to drill pocket holes at both ends of the vertical components. Make sure the corners are right-angled and insert 1 1/4″ screws. Add waterproof glue to the joints, in order to create a rigid structure.

Building the frame of the end table

Continue the woodworking project by locking the two sides of the table together. Therefore, drill pocket holes at both ends of the 2×2 components and lock them to the sides, as shown in the image. Make sure the corners are right-angled and check if the legs are plumb, by using a spirit level.

Fitting the tabletop slats

Building the tabletop for the end table is to fit several 1×2 slats to the frame, as described in the image. Place the slats equally-spaced, making sure they are aligned properly at both ends. It is essential to check if the slats are at the same level with the frame of the end table.

DIY End table plans

Last but not least, you need to attach the top shelf into place. Drill pocket holes at the top of the legs and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the shelf. We recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood filler and let it to dry out for several hours. Afterwards, smooth the wooden surface with fine-grit sandpaper and vacuum the residues.
