  • A – 1 pieces of 3/4″ plywood – 16″x34 1/2″ long, 1 piece – 13″x34 1/2″ long, 1 piece – 11″x36″ long SHELVES
  • B – 2 pieces of 3/4″ plywood – 16″x17 1/4″ long SIDES
  • C – 1 piece  of 1/4″ plywood – 18″x36″ long BACK
  • D – 2 pieces of 3/4″ lumber – 8″x13″ long DIVIDERS
  • E – 2 pieces of 1×2 lumber – 17″ long, 1 piece – 37 1/2″ long TRIMS

  • 1 piece of 3/4″ plywood – 4’x8′
  • 1 piece of 1/4″ plywood – 2’x3′
  • 1 piece of 1×2 lumber – 8 ft
  • 2 1/2″ screws
  • 1 1/4″ screws
  • glue, stain

The first step of the woodworking project is to build the sides of the shoe organizer. Therefore, we recommend you to mark the cut line son a piece of 3/4″ lumber, making sure the corners are right-angled. Use a circular saw to get the job done and smooth the cut edges with sandpaper.

Continue the woodworking project by fitting the shelves and the top to the side components. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the shelves and secure them to the sides with 1 1/4″ galvanized screws. Make sure the corners are square and add waterproof glue to enhance the rigidity of the joints. Drill pocket holes along the top edges of the side components and secure them to the seat with screws. Make sure the edges are flush before inserting the screws.

The next step of the woodworking project is to attach a piece of 1/4″ plywood to the back of the shoe organizer. Cut the piece of plywood at the right dimensions, attach it to the back and secure it into place with 1 1/4″ screws. Add waterproof glue to the joints, in order to create a durable bond.

If you want to enhance the look of the project, we recommend you to cut two pieces of 3/4″ plywood and to fit them into place, as shown in the image. Make sure the corners are right-angled, drill pocket holes along the top and the bottom edges of the dividers and secure them into place with 1 1/4″ galvanized screws.

Attaching 1×2 trims to the bottom of the shoe organizer is an optional step, but the trims will most certainly add value to the project. Make the joints by cutting the ends of the components at 45 degrees, in order to get the job done in a professional manner.

Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood filler and let it to dry out for several hours. Afterwards, smooth the wooden surface with fine-grit sandpaper and vacuum the residues.

Smart Tip: Apply several coats of stain or paint to the wooden components, if you want to protect them from decay and to enhance the look of the shoe organizer.
