This step by step woodworking project is about free 12×16 shed double doors plans. This is PART 3 of the 12×16 storage shed project, where I show you how to build the double doors. Remember that you can make a lot of adjustments to the size and to the design of the shed project, so it suit your needs properly. See my other DIY projects HERE.
We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans in the Shop.

Building double doors for the 12×16 shed
Fit the 2×4 jambs around the door opening. Align the edges flush, drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them into place tightly.
Build the double doors for the barn shed. Cut the trims out of 2×4 lumber and the panels from T1-11 siding. Align the edges with attention, add glue to the joints and insert 2″ screws to lock them together tightly.
Fit the doors to the opening and then lock them to the jambs with hinges. Attach a latch to the double doors.
Last but not least, you need to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats of paint or stain over the components, so you enhance the look of the project.
You can easily add 1×4 trims to the corners of the barn shed. In addition, you can add soffit to the overhangs.
This 12×16 storage shed features a roomy loft, so you can easily make the most of the storage space.
If you want to build the frame for this storage shed, you should check out PART 1 of the project. Make sure you take a look over PART 2 of the shed, to see how to build the roof and the loft. If you like my project, don’t forget to SHARE it on Facebook and Pinterest.

Hello,
I like the detail out into the plan. I do have a question.
What size hinges are used for the doors?
Thanks,
