This step by step woodworking project is about free planter bench plans. If you want to add character to your deck or patio, you should really consider building this planter bench. This is a straight forward process, if you follow the instructions described in this article. You can easily adjust the size of the seat to suit your needs. The bench with two planters attached on both sides will cost about 100$.
We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy quality lumber, such as pine. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. PDF downloadable plans with premium features in the Store.

Free planter bench plans
The first step of the project is to assemble the frame for the floor of the planters. Cut the components from 2×4 lumber. Drill pilot holes through the rim components and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the joists. Make sure the corners are right-angled for a professional result.
Cut a piece of 3/4″ plywood and attach it to the frame, as shown in the diagram.
Cut 16 pieces of 1×6 lumber at 24″ and then attach them to the frame, as shown in the diagram. Use 2″ brad nails and glue to lock the slats to the frame. Leave no gaps between the slats and secure the adjacent slats together with 2″ brad nails.
Next, you need to reinforce the planters by attaching 2×4 trims to the exterior. Cut both ends of the slats at 45 degrees. Use waterproof glue to enhance the joints and insert 2″ brad nails from the interior into the trims.
Next, you should attach the top trims to the planter, as shown in the plans. You can use pocket holes to lock the top trims together tightly. Add glue to the joints and secure them to the top of the planters with 2″ brad nails. Build another planter using the same instructions described above.
Attach 2×2 supports to the planters, as shown in the plans. Use 2 1/2″ screws to secure the supports to the wall planters.
Use 2×4 lumber to frame the seat for the planter bench. Drill pilot holes through the rim components and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the 19″ supports. Align the edges with attention and make sure the corners are square.
Attach 1×6 slats to the seat frame and secure them into place with 1 1/4″ screws. As you can easily see in the free planter bench plans, you can adjust the size of the seat according to your needs.
Fit the seat to the supports. Drill pilot holes through the frame of the bench and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the planters. Fill the holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with sandpaper.

Forgot to add the number of 1 1/4″ nails needed to secure the seat boards to the seat frame.
You can use 2″ nails for that.
Bought all the materials, now just awaiting the snow to melt. Thanks for the plans
