This step by step diy project is about mudroom locker plans. If you want to build a beautiful wooden locker for your entryway, this project might be what you are looking for. Don’t forget to take a look over the rest of the indoor projects and to adjust the design and size of the entryway locker to suit your needs. Assembling a few lockers together would be a great idea, if you have enough space.

You should always plan everything from the very beginning and to adjust the size of the locker to your needs, while you can still use the woodworking techniques described in this project. Taking into account the simple design, this mudroom bench can match the style of any home. Mark the cut lines on the slats before making the cuts and use a jigsaw to get the job done.

There are a few tips that you should take into account, if you want to get a professional result. Therefore, take accurate measurements and use professional tool when making the cuts or when drilling pilot holes. Align the components at both ends and add waterproof glue to the joints, if you want to create a rigid structure. Round the exposed edges with sandpaper or by using a good router. Building a mudroom locker

Building the frame of the locker

Building the frame of the locker

The first step of the woodworking project is to build the frame of the mudroom locker. As you can easily notice in the diagram, we recommend you to build the components out of 1×12 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the yellow components and secure them to the sides by insert 1 1/4″ screws.

Smart Tip: Make sure the corners are right-angled and add glue to the joints to enhance the bond of the structure. Drill pocket holes at the top of the sides and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the top component. Align the edges with attention and leave no gaps between the components.

Next, you have to build the storage unit. As you can easily notice in the diagram, you need to build the components out of 1×12 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the vertical components and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the perpendicular components. Make sure the corners are right-angled and leave no gaps. Align the edges with great care before inserting the screws.

Fit the storage unit to the frame of the locker and secure it to the sides, as shown in the diagram. Drill pilot holes through the sides of the storage unit and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the sides of the frame. Add glue to the joints. Use a spirit level to make sure the storage unit is horizontal and make sure the corners are right-angled.

Fitting the middle partition

Build the partition out of 1×12 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the slat and secure it to the structure with 1 1/4″ screws. Make sure you place the partition to the middle of the locker, for a professional result.

Fitting the front trims

Fitting the front trims

Continue the woodworking project by fitting the 1×2 trims to the front face of the locker. Drill pocket holes at the top of the vertical trims and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the horizontal top trim. After locking the trims together, we recommend you to secure them to the frame of the locker using 1 1/4″ finishing nails. Add glue to the joints and make sure the edges are flush.

Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. In order to get a professional result, fill the holes and the gaps with wood filler and let it dry out for a few hours.  Check if there are protruding screws and fix this issue, if necessary.

Smart tip: Apply a few coats of stain or exterior paint to the components, in order to protect them from decay and water damage. Check out the rest of the indoor furniture plans featured on our website.
