This step by step diy woodworking project is about quilt rack plans. Building a wooden display rack for your quilts is a straight-forward process, but you need to pay attention to several aspects in order to get a professional result. Always adjust the size and the design of the quilt rack to suit your needs. Don’t forget to take a look over the rest of the related projects, to enhance the look and comfort of your house.

Before starting the actual construction project, we recommend you to plan everything, as to save money and to keep the costs under control. Adjust the size and the design of the patio bench to suit your needs. In addition, we recommend you to invest in high-quality materials, such as pine, redwood or cedar, as they have a nice finish and are highly durable, especially in a humid environment.

If you don’t have a rich expertise in woodworking field, you should ask a friend to give you a hand with the project. There are many things that you could go wrong, so make sure you plan everything and invest in quality materials. Select the lumber with attention, making sure the components are perfectly straight and in a very good condition. Use a carpentry square to check if the corners are right-angled. Building the sides

Building the sides

The first step of the woodworking project is to build the sides for the quilt rack. As you can easily notice in the diagram, we recommend you to mark the cut lines on the 1×10 slats, after taking accurate measurements. Use a circular saw to make the cuts and smooth the edges with sandpaper using a vacuum. Afterwards, repeat the process for the opposite side of the quilt rack.

Attaching the bottom

The next step of the woodworking step of the project is to attach the bottom component to the quilt rack. After cutting the component at the right size for your needs, drill pocket holes at both ends. Make sure the corners are right-angled and add glue to the joints, before inserting the 1 1/4″ screws into place. Check if the edges are flush before inserting the screws into place.
