Miter Saw Stand Plans

This step by step woodworking project is about miter saw stand plans. If you have a miter saw then you need to build a proper stand, so you can make most of it and speed up the cutting process. This miter saw stand is both sturdy, compact and has a special feature that allows you to adjust the size of the extensions, so they match the height of the miter saw’s deck. We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Building a miter saw stand

Materials

• A – 4 pieces of 1×4 lumber – 34″ long LEGS
• B – 4 pieces of 1×4 lumber – 30 1/2″ long, 2 pieces – 16 1/2″ long FRAMES
• C – 2 pieces of 1×4 lumber – 80″ long, 5 pieces – 12″ long TABLETOP
• D – 1 piece of 3/4″ plywood – 16 1/2″x32″ long TOP
• E – 2 pieces of 1×4 lumber – 23 1/4″ long, 2 pieces – 6″ long, 1 piece of 1×6 lumber – 23 1/4″ long, 2 pieces of 1×2 lumber – 3″ long 2xEXTENSION

• 8 pieces of 1×4 lumber – 8′
• 1 piece of 1×6 lumber – 8′
• 1 piece of 3/4″ plywood – 2’x4′
• 1 1/4″ screws, 1 1/2″ brad nails
• stain, glue, putty

Build a miter saw stand

Building the sides of the table

The first step of the project is to assemble the sides for the miter saw stand. Cut the components from 1×4 lumber. Align the components with attention. Add glue to the joints and make sure the corners are square. Drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ screws.

Assembling the table

Assemble the miter saw stand by attaching the base frame. Cut the 1×4 slats at the right dimensions that are illustrated in the diagram. Drill pilot holes through the frame and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the legs.

Assembling the tabletop frame

Build the tabletop frame from 1×4 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the 12″ long and insert 1 1/4″ pocket screws. Add glue to the joints and make sure the corners are right-angled.

Fitting the tabletop frame

Attach the tabletop frame to the stand. Drill pilot holes through the tabletop frame and insert 1 1/4″ screws. Use a spirit level to make sure the tabletop is horizontal.

Fitting the tabletop

Build the tabletop from 3/4″ plywood. Mark the cut lines on the plywood sheet and get the job done with a saw. Attach the tabletop to the miter saw stand and align the edges with attention. Use 1 1/4″ brad nails to lock the tabletop into place. Align the edges flush.

Deck extensions

Build the deck extensions from 1×4 lumber and from 1×6 lumber. Drill pilot holes through the 1×4 back slat and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the horizontal slat. Make sure the corners are right-angled.

Building the lumber side supports

Attach the 1×4 supports to the deck extensions. Drill pocket holes along the top of the supports and insert 1 1/4″ screws to assemble everything together tightly.

Supports

Fit the 1×2 pieces of lumber to the table, so you guide the deck extensions.

Adjusting the lumber supports

Fit the deck extensions into place and then adjust their height with the deck of the miter saw. Lock them into place by inserting 1 1/4″ screws into the frame.

You can easily adjust the deck extensions according to the type of miter saw you are using.

Wood Miter Saw Table Plans

Fill the dents and the holes with wood putty and let it dry out for several hours. Smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper and apply a few coats with stain and paint.
