If you want to learn more about building a kids table, we recommend you to pay attention to the instructions described in the article. In addition, take a close look over the rest of the table plans, as there are many projects and designs to choose from. Take accurate measurements and make the necessary adjustments.

Before starting the actual construction project, we recommend you to plan everything, as to save money and to keep the costs under control. Adjust the size and the design of the kids table to suit your needs. In addition, we recommend you to invest in high-quality materials, such as pine, redwood or cedar, as they have a nice finish and are highly durable, especially in a humid environment.

If you don’t have a rich expertise in woodworking field, you should ask a friend to give you a hand with the project. There are many things that you could go wrong, so make sure you plan everything and invest in quality materials. Select the lumber with attention, making sure the components are perfectly straight and in a very good condition. Use a carpentry square to check if the corners are right-angled. Building the table

Building the table

The first step of the woodworking project is to build the frame of the kids table. As you can easily notice in the diagram, we recommend you to cut the legs out of 4×4 lumber and the aprons out of 2×4 lumber. Make sure you take accurate measurements and make the cuts with a proper saw.

Attaching the aprons

Attaching the aprons

Drill pocket holes at both ends of the aprons and lock them to the legs with 2 1/2″ screws. Make sure the corners are right-angled and add waterproof glue to the joints in order to enhance the bond of the components. Align the components with attention before inserting the screws, as to get a professional result.

Fitting the tabletop

Fitting the tabletop

Lay the 2×6 slats on a level surface and center the frame of the table on top. Drill pocket holes through the frame and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the slats. Leave no gaps between the components and add waterproof glue to the joints.

Fitting the caster wheels

Fitting the caster wheels

Attach 2″ caster wheels to the bottom of the table legs, as shown in the diagram. In this manner, you will be able to move the table easily from one place to another.

Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood filler and let it to dry out for several hours. Afterwards, smooth the wooden surface with fine-grit sandpaper and vacuum the residues.

Smart Tip: Apply several coats of stain or paint to the wooden components, if you want to protect them from decay and to enhance the look of the table.
