  • A – 4 pieces of 2×2 lumber – 48″ long POSTS
  • B – 12 pieces of 1×1 lumber – 21″ long SUPPORTS
  • C – 6 pieces of 2×2 lumber – 15 3/4″ long, 1 piece – 24″ long RAFTERS
  • D – 2 pieces of 2×2 lumber – 21 3/4″ long, 2 pieces – 43 1/2″ long DOOR

 

Tools

  • Safety gloves, glasses
  • Miter saw, jigsaw
  • Chalk line, tape measure, spirit level, carpentry pencil
  • Drill machinery and drill bits

  • Use a good miter saw to make the angle cuts

How to build a mini greenhouse

The first step of the project is to build the sides for the mini-greenhouse. As you can easily notice in the diagram, we recommend you to cut the components out of 2×2 lumber at the right size. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the horizontal components and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the vertical supports. Make sure the corners are right-angled.

The next step of the outdoor project is to assemble the two sides of the greenhouse together. Cut the supports out of 2×2 lumber and drill pocket holes at both ends. Fit the supports to the structure and secure them using 2 1/2″ screws. Notice the two front supports that are aligned with the back edge of the vertical supports.

Build the rafters using 2×2 lumber. Cut one end of the components at 45 degrees, by using a circular saw. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock everything together. Leave no gaps between the components.

Build the door using 2×2 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the vertical components and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the top and bottom supports. Place the door inside the opening and secure it to the frame using hinges. In addition, fit a door latch for a professional result.

Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. In order to get a professional result, fill the holes and the gaps with wood filler and let it dry out for a few hours. Check if there are protruding screws and fix this issue, if necessary.
