I used the plans for the shooting bench and tweaked the materials. If you break down (2) 7′ pallets you’ll have plenty of lumber for this project.
I changed up the 2×6’s and joined (2) 2×4’s to make 4×4 posts. I centered the 4×4 on the back leg (see pic). The breaking down of the pallets was the most time consuming. Allot at least 4 hours for this. (Have plenty of exterior wood glue as some of the wood was split, along with some boards split when pulling them apart)
Cutting the wood was approximately 1 1/2 hours.
Assembly about 1 1/2 hours.
Sanding (optional) 3 hours and staining was 2 1/2 hours . Total project including breaking down the pallets = 12 1/2 hours. The stain is Valspar 29 ounce (1 quart) Semi-Transparent (Neutral Base) Forestland. (Note: You must bring the stain to the paint counter to have them add the green tint to the base. Just ask for the Forestland.
One coat = 3/4 of the can. I only applied one coat) Total cost: Stain = $21. Screws (2 1/2″ tan deck screws) $15 worth. Wood was free. $36.00 total.
