This step by step woodworking project is about duck blind plans. If you like hunting for duck, this basic shelter will provide you a place where to stay dry. The duck blind features a large access door to the back of the construction and a small door for your dog at the front. The plans come with step by step instructions and you can easily adjust all the dimensions to suit your needs. See my other DIY projects HERE.

We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans in the Shop.

Diy Duck Blind Plans

fitting-the-posts

Fitting-the-posts

Build the posts for the duck blind from 4×4 lumber. As you can see in the plans, you need to dig 24″ deep holes so you secure them into place. Use a spirit level to plumb the posts before locking them into place.

Building-the-floor-frame

Use 2×6 lumber for the floor frame of the duck blind. Cut the joists at the dimensions described in the diagram. Drill pilot holes through the 96″ long joists and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the perpendicular components. Next, you need to install the middle partitions, so you can keep the joists equally spaced.

Attach the floor frame to the posts. Use a spirit level to make sure the floor is horizontal. You can adjust the height at which you place the floor, according to the location you choose for the project. Drill pilot holes and use 4″ lag bolts to secure the frame to the posts.
