Building the legs

Building the legs

The first step of the project is to build the legs for the rain barrel stand. Use 4×4 lumber to build the legs. Make notches to the bottom of the legs, as described in the diagram. Make several parallel cuts inside the marked area and remove the excess with a chisel. Smooth the recess with sandpaper.

Building the top frame

Building the top frame

Build the frame out of 2×4 lumber. Drill pilot holes through the 21″ components and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the 18″ supports. Make sure the corners are square and leave no gaps between the components.
