Garden Shed Double Doors Plans

This step by step woodworking project is about free 8×8 garden shed double doors plans. This is PART 3 of the garden shed project, where I show you how to build the double doors for this beautiful garden shed. In addition, I show you how to enhance the look of the shed by fitting a few trims. See my other DIY projects HERE.

We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans in the Shop.

Building double doors for the 8×8 garden shed

Attaching the door jambs

Attaching the door jambs

The first step of the project is to attach the 1×4 jambs around the door opening. Use 6d nails and glue to secure the jambs into place tightly. Align the edges flush and insert the screws properly.

Building the front doors

Use the panels that you cut out in the previous steps for the doors. Attach 1×4 trims to the panels. Add glue and insert 1 1/4″ nails to lock them together tightly.

Fitting the front double doors

Fit the double doors to the front opening and secure them to the jambs using hinges. Install a door latch so you can close the doors securely. Installing a handle will make opening the doors a lot easier.

Last but not least, you need to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the surface with sandpaper. Apply a few coats of paint or stain over the components, so you protect them from decay and so you enhance the look of the garden shed.
