Tiki Bar Roof Plans

This step by step woodworking project is about free tiki bar plans. This is PART 2 of the tiki bar project, where I show you how to build the roof and the supports. Check out the PART 1 so you learn how to make the actual bar. My plans come with step by step instructions and you can easily adjust all the dimensions to suit your needs. See my other DIY projects HERE.

We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans in the Shop.

Building the roof for a tiki bar

Building-the-rafters

Build the rafters for the bar using 2×4 lumber. Cut one end of the rafters at 60 degrees, by making 30 degree cuts with a miter saw. Alternatively, you can mark the cut lines and then get the job done with a saw.

Build the stakes for the roof from 2×4 lumber. Cut the top of the stakes at angle, using a saw. Make 60 degree cuts on both sides of the tip, as shown in the diagram. Drill pilot holes and secure the rafters together and to the stakes using 2 1/2″ screws. Add waterproof glue to the joints.

Align the roof supports to the tabletop, using the information from the diagram. Drill pocket holes along the bottom of the supports and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the tabletop. Use a spirit level to make sure the supports are plumb and check if the corners are square.

Attach 1×6 slats to the roof of the tiki bar. Leave no gaps between the slats for a neat result. Make sure you use cedar or other weather resistant materials for the project, as the tiki bar will be exposed to the elements.

Make sure you take a look over PART 1 of the tiki bar project, so you learn how to build the actual bar. Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats of paint or stain to enhance the look of the components and to protect them from the elements. If you like my project, don’t forget to SHARE it on Facebook and Pinterest.
