Free Skate Ramp Plans

This step by step woodworking project is about skate ramp plans. If you are a skater and you have some space at your disposal, make sure you check out this super simple project. You can adjust the size of the ramp to suit your needs and budget. My plans come with step by step instructions and you can easily adjust all the dimensions to suit your needs. See my other DIY projects HERE.

We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting.

How to build a skate ramp

The first step of the project is to build the sides for the skate ramp. Mark the cut lines on the 3/4″ plywood and then get the job done with a circular saw. Smooth the edges with sandpaper for a neat result.

Build the back of the skate ramp from 3/4″ plywood. Attach 1×4 slats to the interior of the panel. Add glue to the joints, drill pilot holes and insert 1 1/4″ screws. Align the components with attention for a professional result.

Attach the sides to the back component. Drill pilot holes through the back and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the sides. Make sure the corners are square and add waterproof glue to the joints. Align the edges flush before inserting the screws,

Cut the supports for the top of the ramp using 1×4 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the supports and insert 1 1/4″ pocket screws. Add glue to the joints and make sure the corners are square.

Attach the top to the skate ramp. Cut the top from 3/4″ plywood and attach it into place with 1 1/4″ screws. Countersink the head of the screws so that the surface is level.

Attach the 1/4″ thick masonite board to the top of the ramp. Align the edges with attention and lock it into place with glue and 1 1/4″ screws. Make sure the head of the screws are sunk into the masonite.

Fit a 1/4″ thick steel plate to the ramp, as show in the diagram. Drill pilot holes through the plate and insert 1 1/4″ screws to lock it into place. You can adjust the size of the plate so it suits your needs.

You can adjust the angle of the skate ramp, as well as the design. In addition, you can apply a few coats of paint or stain to enhance the look of the project and to protect it from the elements.

The skate ramp is super easy to build and it will take your skating abilities to the next level. If you like my project, don’t forget to SHARE it on Facebook and Pinterest.
