This step by step woodworking project is about 2×4 easy to build bench plans. This bench is a simple project so anyone with basic woodworking skills can make it in a few days. My plans come with step by step instructions and you can easily adjust all the dimensions to suit your needs. See my other DIY projects HERE.
We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting.

Building a 2×4 bench seat
The first step of the project is to build the side legs for the bench. Cut the components at the right dimensions and secure them with pocket screws. Drill pocket holes along the top of the 12″ legs and insert 2 1/2″ screws. In addition, drill pocket holes at both ends of 9″ components and insert 2 1/2″ screws. Align edges with attention and add glue to the joints.
Attach the 2×4 slats to the top of the supports. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws. Place a piece of 3/4″ plywood between the slats to create even gaps.
Attach 1×4 trims to the bench, so enhance its look. Align the edges flush and insert 2″ brad nails to secure them into place.
Fit the 2×4 stretcher to the bottom of the bench. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the stretcher and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the side legs.
Fit a 2×4 support to the middle of the bench. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the support and insert 2 1/2″ screws into the frame.
Fill the holes with wood putty and smooth the surface with 120-220 grit sandpaper. Apply a few coats of stain and paint to enhance the look of the bench.
