This step by step woodworking project is about free 4×6 shooting house roof plans. This is PART 2 of the shooting house project, where I show you how to build the lean to roof. We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Building a 4×6 shooting house
Materials
- F – 3 piece of 3/4″ plywood – 48″x80 1/2 long, 1 piece – 24″x80 1/2″ long, 1 piece – 48″x76 1/2″ long, 1 piece – 24″x76 1/2″ long WALLS
- G – 6 pieces of 2×6 lumber – 46 1/2″ long, 1 piece – 72″ long RAFTERS
- H – 1 piece of 3/4″ plywood – 48″x80″ long ROOF
- H – 40 sq ft of tar paper, 40 sq ft of asphalt shingles ROOFING
- I – 2 pieces of 2×2 lumber – 69″ long, 2 pieces – 22 1/2″ long, 1 piece – 19 1/2″ long, 1 piece – 22 1/2″x72″ long DOOR

How to build a roof for a 4×6 deer blind
Building the rafters
The first step of the project is to build the rafters for the deer blind. Mark the cut lines on the 2×6 beams and get the job done with a circular saw. Smooth the edges with attention, using sandpaper.
Fitting the rafters
Fit the rafters to the top of the deer blind. Align the edges flush and place the rafters every 16″ on center. Drill pilot holes and insert 3 1/2″ screws, to lock them into place tightly.
Front wall – Siding
Attach the 1/2″ plywood or 3/4″ plywood sheets to the front wall of the shooting house. Cut out door opening and the window opening, using the information shown in the diagram. Make sure you don’t damage the panel as you will use it when assembling the door. Use 6d nails to secure the sheets into place, every 8″ along the framing.
Tall side wall – Siding
Fit the plywood sheets to the tall side wall, using the information from the diagram. Make the cuts so you can cover the window openings. Use hinges to secure the blinds into place. Use 6d nails to secure the sheets into place, every 8″ along the framing.
Small side wall – Siding
Fit the sheets to the opposite side of the deer house.
Back wall – Siding
Last but not least, fit the sheets to the back wall of the shooting house.
Roof sheet
Fit 3/4″ plywood to the roof of the shooting house. Align the edges and insert 1 5/8″ screws, so you can secure the panel into place tightly. Insert the screws every 8″ along the rafters.
Fitting the roofing
Fit tar paper to the roof of the deer blind. Afterwards, install asphalt shingles to seal the roof.
Building the door
Build the door frame from 2×2 lumber. Drill pilot holes and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them together tightly. Make sure the corners are square and fit the panel to the frame. Use 2″ nails to secure the panel into place tightly.
Fitting the door
Fit the door to the opening and align the edges flush. Use hinges to secure the door into place and check if it opens and closes properly. Install a latch so you can lock the door into place tightly.
4×6 Deer blind plans
Fill the holes with wood putty and then smooth the surface tightly. Apply a few coats of paint to protect the components from the elements and to make it blend in with the landscape.
