Building the frame of the tabletop

The first step of the woodworking project is to build the frame of the desk. In order to get the job done in a professional manner, we recommend you to cut the components out of 1×2 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the side components and secure them to the perpendicular slats with 1 1/4″ screws. Make sure the corners are right-angled, otherwise the end result might not suit your needs.

Continue the woodworking project by fitting the 1×3 slats inside the frame. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the slats and secure them to the frame with 1 1/4″ galvanized screws. Make sure you leave no gaps between the slats and you align them properly at both ends.

Fitting the wooden legs

Fitting the wooden legs

One of the last steps of the project is to attach the legs to the frame of the laptop desk. Therefore, build the legs out of 1×3 lumber and secure them to the frame with galvanized screws. Add waterproof glue to the joints, in order to enhance the rigidity of the frame.
