XL Dog House – Free DIY Plans

This step by step woodworking project is about XL dog house plans free. I have designed this dog house so you can shelter your favorite pet, even if it is extra large. The structure of the dog house is super sturdy and you can fit insulation between the studs, if you want to make it even more cozy. My plans come with step by step instructions and you can easily adjust all the dimensions to suit your needs. See my other DIY projects HERE.

We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

How to build an extra large dog house

Building the floor frame

Building the floor frame

The first step of the project is to build the frame for the floor of the dog house. Cut the joists from 2×4 lumber and smooth the edges with sandpaper. Drill pilot holes through the rim joists and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the perpendicular components. Make sure the edges are flush and check if the corners are square.
