Cubby bench plans

This step by step diy woodworking project is about cubby bench plans. If you want to create a beautiful bench with a neat design, we recommend you to pay attention to the instructions described in the project. Moreover, you should adjust the dimensions of the cubby bench according to your needs and tastes. Make sure the wooden components are perfectly straight and in a good visual condition.

There are so many plans and designs to choose from when building a bench for your garden, so make sure you plan everything from the very beginning and select a project that really suits your tastes and budget. Work with attention and adjust the size and the look of the bench according to your needs and tastes. If you don’t have experience in the field, it would be a good idea to take a look over the rest of the indoor projects.

On the other hand, we recommend you to invest in the best materials you can afford, especially if you want to get the job done as a professional and to use the cubby bench for many years in a row. Use pine, cedar or redwood, as these materials are both durable and have a nice finish. Add waterproof glue to the joints, in order to create a rigid structure and use a pocket hole system. Building the frame of the bench

Building the frame of the bench

The first step of the woodworking project is to build the frame of the cubby bench. As you can see in the image, we recommend you to cut the components at the right dimension and lock them together with pocket screws.

Smart Tip: Drill pocket holes at Both ends of the bottom component and at the top of the side elements. Add waterproof glue to the joints and check if the corners are right-angled by using a carpentry square.

Fitting the splitting walls

Fitting the splitting walls

The next step of the project is to fit the splitting walls and secure them to the frame with pocket screws. These components will not only enhance the rigidity of the frame, but it will also better organize the storage space. Make sure you place the walls equally-spaced.

Attaching the trims

Attaching the trims

One of the last steps of the project is to attach the 1×2 trims to both faces of the cubby bench. After cutting the trims at the right size, we recommend you to lock them into place with finishing nails and waterproof glue.

Fitting the caster wheels

Fitting the caster wheels

If you want to move the cubby bench easily, we recommend you to attach caster wheels to the bottom of the frame. Center the caster wheels to the corners of the bottom frame and secure it into place with galvanized screws.

Smart Tip: Apply several coats of stain or paint to the wooden components, if you want to protect them from decay and to enhance the look of the cubby bench. If you want to get this plan as a PDF file, please take a look over the GET PDF PLANS button bellow. Thank you for the support!
